The function of air compressor safety valve
The safety valve is a special one among all parts of the air compressor, because it is not only a switch, but more importantly, it can protect the safety of the equipment. For pressure equipment such as air compressors, safety valves play a vital role in maintaining safe production of air compressors.
- Working principle of safety valve
The closing part of the safety valve is in a normally closed state under the action of external force. When the medium pressure in the equipment or pipeline increases to exceed the specified value, the valve will be opened to discharge the medium outside the system to reduce the medium pressure in the pipeline or equipment. Safety valves are automatic valves, mainly used in boilers, pressure vessels and pipelines, and play an important protective role in personal safety and equipment operation. According to relevant regulations, safety valves must be regularly calibrated at least once a year.
- Calibration method of safety valve
So what are the calibration methods of safety valves? Generally there are three types
(1) Boost-type jump method verification: The safety valve is installed in the system, and the system artificially increases the pressure until the safety valve jumps to observe the opening pressure of the safety valve. This verification method affects the sealing surface of the safety valve. The damage will be greater and the risk of operation is greater than others.
(2) Online instrument calibration: This is to measure the downward spring force acting on the safety valve through external force. This can be used to calculate the opening pressure of the safety valve. This method generally does not affect production and system pressure. Without any changes, the detection speed is relatively fast and convenient, but this method cannot detect the sealing performance of the safety valve.
(3) Offline calibration of the calibration bench: install the safety valve on the calibration bench, then use the calibration medium to open the safety valve, and confirm the opening pressure by observing the pressure gauge. However, this method cannot take into account the verification of the back pressure safety valve and the safety valve of high temperature or low temperature media.
- When the safety valve cannot be used
Not all equipment can be suitable for safety valves. When the pressure increases rapidly and the discharge rate of the safety valve cannot exceed the pressure increase rate, or when sealing is strictly required, or in special industries, the materials in the container will cause the safety valve to fail. If the material in the container contains a lot of solid particles, the safety valve will not seal tightly after it returns to its seat. Or the materials in the container may be highly toxic or have other properties that impede public safety. In these cases, it is not suitable to use the safety valve alone. It is necessary to use a bursting disc or a combination of a safety valve and a bursting disc.
