What causes the oil injection screw air compressor to run out of oil?
It is generally required that the oil content of the compressed air produced by an oil-injected screw air compressor does not exceed 3 mg per cubic meter. When the amount of oil contained in compressed air exceeds this standard, we usually call it high oil consumption, commonly known as “flying oil”. Air compressor oil running is one of the more common fault phenomena among users. Therefore, how should we judge when users report that the air compressor consumes a lot of fuel?
1. Oil volume dropped significantly
First, observe whether there is a significant drop in the lubricating oil in the oil and gas barrel. The machine indicator line must be loaded stably after the machine is started and running. When comparing under the same environmental pressure, for example, a loading capacity of 7 kg, whether the oil position has changed significantly. What should be emphasized here is that after the machine head is loaded and stabilized, attention should be paid to temperature, pressure, etc., otherwise oil leakage will occur. It is worth noting that a drop in the oil level does not mean that the oil is running out. Pay attention to distinguish between normal oil consumption and oil running out.
2. Oil leakage in oil system
Check whether there is oil leakage in the machine’s oil system, such as aging oil pipes, oil leakage in the machine head, oil leakage in the cooler, etc. Operation method: Open the door panel of the machine and use the flash to take a photo of the inner bottom of the machine to see if there is oil. For screw air compressor equipment with its own drainer, a sample should be taken from the drain outlet, drain the water and put it into a clean container for about five minutes, and observe whether there is a little oil film or film-like oil gathering on the surface of the container. Before the bottom of the ship sank, most of the water collected was milky white, and only a few thin colorful oil flowers were visible for observation. For gas storage tanks without water separators, you can observe the drainage of the gas storage tank. Compared with the previous normal situation, it depends on whether there is too much oil in the discharged water. It is relatively normal to have less oil. The rear part of the filter is discharged, and there is obviously more oil at the air end of the workshop.
3. Oil return system
If it is confirmed that the machine indeed consumes a lot of oil, it needs to be stopped and the air released. On the premise of ensuring safety, check whether the oil return system of the machine is intact, and check whether there is oil in the center of the groove at the bottom of the oil drop point. If there is oil, please deal with the oil return system in time to improve the oil return effect of the machine. In addition, you should also pay attention to whether the oil return pipe penetrates the bottom of the oil separation core when installing it at the bottom of the oil separation core. For some machines that consume particularly large amounts of fuel, this method can often have unexpected effects.
Using the above method, you can basically determine the specific cause of oil leakage in the screw air compressor, and make a preliminary treatment plan.
